Our take

JQBX is built for music nerds who want a real DJ rotation experience and have Spotify Premium. If that is you, JQBX is excellent.

SyncWave is the entry-level option: anyone with a browser can join a room in 5 seconds, with no install and no subscription. We do not have multi-DJ rotation yet, but the cost of entry for friends is zero.

Use JQBX for your committed music community. Use SyncWave when you just want to share a song with someone right now.

Frequently asked questions

Will SyncWave add DJ rotation?

Multi-DJ rotation is on our roadmap. For now we use a single-host model — the room creator controls playback. The host can pass control via the share link.

Can I use SyncWave on mobile?

Yes, fully. SyncWave runs in any modern mobile browser (Safari iOS, Chrome Android). JQBX has only a limited mobile beta — its desktop app is the supported experience.

Does SyncWave have public rooms to discover music?

Yes. The /rooms page lists active and persistent public rooms. You can browse what others are playing right now and jump into a session.

Why not just use Spotify Group Session like JQBX does?

Group Session and JQBX both require every listener to have Spotify Premium. We made the deliberate choice to remove that barrier so anyone with a browser can listen together.

Is SyncWave good for music discovery like JQBX?

Different model. JQBX has a curated DJ-rotation community optimized for discovery. SyncWave is built around small group sessions with friends — discovery happens through the public rooms list and themed system rooms (e.g. Top 100 Weekly).
